The Infamous Imposter Syndrome

You know I can’t stand the arrogance. Nothing can be achieved with arrogance. But what do I mean by arrogance? I already know everything. I am in possession of objective knowledge. I’m always right about everything. And if I don’t know something after all, it’s not even worth knowing because it’s stupid.

Unfortunately, the fundamental problem with this is that it doesn’t motivate you to do anything. But the problem is bigger than that, because the arrogant person despises everyone, even those who are more familiar with the subject. And if they do not receive the coveted recognition, glory, which they usually try to provoke with boasting, they will be offended. Everyone will be at fault due to this. They claim what they didn’t earn, the respect of others.

It’s worth noting that those who have accomplished something never brag about it. Because they don’t need it. They are winner by default. Their actions speak for them. They are well aware of the basic rule that whatever they are trying to achieve should start from the worst position. And what is this position? I know nothing about the subject.

But with enough perseverance and hard work, I have a chance to know something. A humble person never provokes recognition from others, too busy for that. Still, you get it from others because it gives you something that others value.

The difference between arrogance and humility is that the arrogant always imagines in the best position themselves and the humble always in the worst, regardless of their results. Because if we achieve something we wanted before, it will no longer be the best position because we want something else. And which was the best position yesterday, it’s a worse today.

The ambitious always wants more and more, while the mediocre always wants less and less, regarding the achievements at least. As for recognition, however, it works the other way around for them.

What is the infamous impostor syndrome?

Whatever you achieve, you feel that you do not deserve recognition from the people. And if you do get that recognition, you feel like you’ve abused people’s trust, or took advantage of someone’s benevolence.

The problem at the first place is the self-sabotage. You don’t want to achieve something to be recognized by others, but to be better in something. But what if you could help others with that?

Would you refuse to help others learn from your experiences just because you are too shy to teach them?

What if someone extremely needs your help?

Refusing to help those who need it is not shyness, but selfish. And you may find yourself in same boat with arrogant. Because they want what they do not deserve, and you in turn reject helping those who would deserve.

When you think of a drowning person, who is the bigger rogue? Those who brag with their ability, but they fail helping because the lack of abilities, or those who are capable to help but reject helping others?

No matter how humble you are, if you don’t help others with your results, you’re actually even more culpable than the arrogant.
